Real Self-Defense
Bullying happens. We hope it never happens to your child β but if it does, jiu-jitsu gives them the safest, most ethical tools to protect themselves without throwing a punch.
Our kids program builds focus, discipline, and real self-defense skills in an environment that is safe, structured, and genuinely fun. Anti-bullying, family-supportive, and ESA approved.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu may be the single best thing your child ever does. We've seen it transform shy kids into confident young leaders. We've seen it give hyperactive kids the focus they need to thrive in school. We've seen it give bullied kids the calm, grounded confidence to never need to fight β and the skills to handle themselves if they ever have to.
Little Warriors (Ages 4β6): Movement, coordination, listening skills, and the very first jiu-jitsu fundamentals β taught through games and structured play. 30-minute classes designed for tiny attention spans.
Kids (Ages 7β10): A real BJJ curriculum. Live training with peers. Belt promotions earned through effort and technique. Where the discipline and respect get serious β but the fun never stops.
Pre-Teens (Ages 11β14): The bridge to our adult program. Full curriculum, controlled live rolling, and the mentorship of older students and coaches. The most powerful age to begin a lifelong practice.
Our kids classes are fun, structured, and safe β building real jiu-jitsu skills alongside the discipline and respect that carry into every part of a child's life.

Multiple parents have told us their child's grades, attention, and behavior at home all improved after starting jiu-jitsu. There is something about this art that simply rewires young brains.
Kids who know they can handle themselves don't need to prove anything. The result is a quiet, grounded confidence that radiates in school, at home, and in friendships.
Bowing onto the mats. Shaking hands after every roll. Listening when the coach speaks. Old-school martial arts respect, taught by example, ingrained for life.
Kids today don't move enough. A jiu-jitsu class is an hour of climbing, crawling, problem-solving, and play β building strength, flexibility, and coordination that translate to every sport.
The friends a child makes on these mats often become lifelong. Birthday parties, sleepovers, summer camps β the kids' jiu-jitsu community is real and tight-knit.
Don't take our word for it β here's what our students have to say about training at Ares Arizona.
